Stage Makeup

This section is theatrical stage makeup. I was completely new to this field. Before this class I had never applied any type of makeup to my face. So, this is my transition from complete newb to, well you can decide what I progressed to. There is a makeup map, this is a drawing of the makeup plan, the application, resource images, and an explanation to the design for each of the projects. Enjoy scrolling through.

If you wish to stay on an entry hover your mouse on the text box. This will move the text box to the side of the screen and freeze in the image you wish to look at for longer. If you are having difficulty viewing the entire entry press Ctrl - until it fits your frame.

Lean and Wide make up map.jpg

Lean and Wide

This design is to make half of the face skinny and the other half of the face wider. The light or highlight section makes the face look larger and the dark or shadow section of the makeup look smaller or more setback.

Old Age (Lady Bracknell)

Lady Bracknell is an older woman from the play The Importance of Being Earnest. This play is set during the Victorian era. Lady Bracknell is stern but loves to gossip. I chose this character because I do not know many plays and it was suggested to me by my professor.

Victorian and Edwardian Era (Nora Helmer)

This makeup look is based off of the original makeup look that was used in theatre during the Victorian and Edwardian era. For this project, our professor gave us a historical makeup looks, this was done according to our skill set. I received the Victorian and Edwardian theatrical makeup.

Painting Genre

This project was based on imitating one particular makeup look. I chose a geometric pattern with distinct color blocking I chose this because I though it would give me practice in mixing the colors.

Crepe Hair (The Wizard of Oz)

This makeup project was created to introduce the material crepe hair. This material is made up of natural protein fibers such as wool. This acts like real hair and also is rather convincing from the stage.

Disaster Drill

This makeup project was used to teach us how to make wounds such as burns, bruises, and lacerations. I personally do not get queasy at the sight of blood so instead of being disgusted by this project I actually was quite fascinated by it.

3D Realistic Nose (Grizabella)

The focus of this project was the creation of the fake nose. This was a three-day process fist we sculpted the nose this was done by using the mold of a face and then applied clay to the nose and shaping it to the desired appearance. After this was done, we placed what is called a wall around the nose. This is a literal wall of clay around the nose to make a watertight seal. Then mineral oil is used to coat the inside of the mold. After this is done quick drying cement is placed mold.

3D Fantasy (Pan) Makeup Map.jpg

3D Fantasy (Pan)

For this makeup look we used the same technique as was used in the previous project. Only this time instead of making the initial shape by sculpting the clay, we used premade molds. This was fun because we could choose from any of the molds available. I had in mind making a satyr from the get-go, so it was fun trying to pick out molds that I thought would suit the look.

Glamourous Robot Makeup Map.jpg

Final Fantasy (Glamorous Robot)

The topics for this project were assigned by a random noun and adjective generator. I received the words glamorous and robot.

Likeness (Queen Elizabeth II) Makeup Map

Likeness (Queen Elizabeth II)

For this final we were instructed to augment our face with makeup to look like a celebrity. Because I do not know many celebrities, I chose to do the Queen of England.
