Modaris

Modaris is the fashion industry standard method of computer aided design (CAD) patterning software. I enjoyed learning how to use the modaris software because it speeds up the creation of patterning. I especially enjoy the ease of manipulating style and size of the patterns.

Overview

In addition to the assignments there were also two projects attached to this course. Both of which had a common theme.

Project One: Dress

Bodice has a turtleneck, cap sleeves, and yolk. Lower bodice is split into four sections. The skirt has added flare and detail is created with ribbon. There is also a waist band 1.5 in waist band and a 5’’ flounce at the hem. The dress is closed with an invisible zipper at center back.

Project Two: Shirt

The design is of a yoked front and back with short sleeves. The designed lower portion is created by cutting striped fabric on the bias, or using fabric with chevrons. The shirt length falls at hip level.  There is a 6” invisible zipper at the side neck and shoulder seam to allow head to fit into the shirt and is closed at top with a hook and eye.

Project Three: Pants

This pair of pants coordinates with the shirt. Each pant leg is divided into two sections front and side. There are three ¾” decorative buttons down each seam. There are pockets, and the closure is an invisible 9“ zipper at the front left mid leg seam with a pant hook at waistband. The waist band is eight sections pieced together (there are two missing on the back depiction. The side panels of the pants are made out of a contrasting fabric.
