What is Draping?

Draping is the art of sculpting a garment using fabric as the medium and a dress form as an armature.

I love draping because you receive instant feed back from the fabric, it tells you exactly were the stress points are, exactly where the fabric wants to lay.

The tools you need for draping include: pins, scissors a marking tool, marking tape, a dress form, and most important of all muslin fabric.

The following projects were created for my draping course at Central Michigan University Spring 2022.

Mother Earth

The first dress for this this course had to include either gathers or pleats, I chose to use both

For the second project I had to either include the tent style, bias style, or kimono sleeve style into the garment. I chose to use the kimono sleeve style.
